Vibrant Bidding at the CCTV Auction Indicates Healthy Economy -- and Media Inflation
CCTV held its annual auction on Nov. 18 for ad spots during prime-time programming as well as title sponsorships for key programs like its Chinese New Year gala, nightly weather reports and special events like CCTV's World Cup coverage in 2010. The overall bidding was more aggressive than in previous years, a sign advertisers can expect inflation for local and provincial broadcasters next year as well.
